to be held at
Yarrawonga – Victoria

Alice Springs – NT Safety Concerns

The 2023 AGM will now be at Yarrawonga – VIC

This communication follows on from the advice already distributed about the National Committee’s recent decision to relocate the 2023 National Gathering and Annual General Meeting (AGM) to Yarrawonga in Victoria, because of the issues currently existing in Alice Springs.

Obviously the details provided to members in the Avanner mailed out two days ago is now out of date. A number of things need to be explained or clarified:

DATES OF THE GATHERING:,

Dates remain unchanged – only the venue has altered.

Registration for the National Gathering will take place on Sunday 7 May. The gathering will run until Sunday 14 May.

FORMAL NOTICE:

This Communique is the formal notice of the change of venue for the 2023 Annual General Meeting which will now take place at the Club Mulwala, across the river from Yarrawonga. Times and the Agenda for the meeting remain the same.

VENUE:

The main venue will be the Yarrawonga Holiday Park, 7-11 Burley Rd, Yarrawonga, Ph: (03) 5744 3420.

Two hundred powered sites have been set aside for A’van members until 21 April, when they will be made available to the general public.

The Park will take A’van members site bookings from Monday 13 February. The rate negotiated is $40.00 per night.

Unfortunately cabins may not be available during this time at this Park (see below under Alternate Venues)

A marquee will be provided at the Park as we have used for recent annual gatherings. This has been very successful as a multi-purpose gathering space.

The Gala Dinner will take place at Club Mulwala, a ten-minute walk from the Caravan Park, and will hopefully be held on the one night (Wednesday), rather than spread over two.

CLOSE TO TOILET FACILITIES:

When you contact the Yarrawonga Holiday Park to book your site please specify this as a requirement if required. A list of those members requesting to be close to facilities at Alice has already been provided to the Park.

ALTERNATE VENUES:

Two alternate venues have been sourced for overflow purposes, or if people prefer not to stay at other than the main venue:

(Cabins are also available at these two following locations.)

Mulwala Ski Club [Ph: (03) 5744 1050]. They have set aside 10 sites and are 2.5km away from the main venue.

NRMA Yarrawonga Mulwala Holiday Park (Ph: 1800 817 570). They have five ensuite sites and 12 powered sites, and are 5km from the main venue.

ACCOMODATION MONIES PAID IN RELATION TO ALICE SPRINGS:

The Discovery Caravan Park has been advised that the gathering has been cancelled in Alice Springs. You should email them to cancel your booking. They have advised with respect to monies paid that they will provide a credit for any Discovery Park in Australia for up to twelve months. If you have booked another park please contact them as soon as possible.

CHANGES TO AGM REGISTRATION:

If you are one of the 50+ who have already registered to attend the gathering in Alice Springs you will need to contact the A’van Club Treasurer (Ros Bolton) as soon as possible to advise that you wish this booking to remain in place for Yarrawonga. If you have changed your mind about attending please advise Ros and she will arrange for a refund.
Email Ros on: treasurer@avanclubaust.org.au or reply to this email. Please note your membership number in the email.

MERCHANDISING:

Members will not lose any money paid for t-shirts, caps etc. were not yet produced for Alice Springs. Orders already placed for merchandise can be transferred to Yarrawonga merchandise, or a refund given if you elect to do so. Please indicate this when you are booking in and advising Ros Bolton as above.
